Ryan Miller
Ryan grew up in the small hill country town of Boerne, Texas where his love for distance running started. He helped lead the Boerne Samuel V. Champion High School cross country team to back to back state championships in 2008 and 2009, as well as the 2009 Nike Cross National Championship. Lightly recruited out of high school with PR’s of 4:20 in the 1600 and 9:40 in the 3200, Ryan accepted a preferred walk on spot on the Texas A&M University cross country and track & field teams. While at Texas A&M, he produced top ten all-time performances in the 5000m and 10000m distances, finished 6th and 7th in the 10000m at the 2014 and 2015 SEC Outdoor Track & Field Championships, and was a NCAA Championship West Region preliminary qualifier at 10000m in 2015. He graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2015 with a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Distribution from the Dwight Look College of Engineering, a minor in Business Administration, and certificates in Engineering Project Management and Engineering Systems Management.
Post-collegiately, Ryan qualified for the 2016 United States Olympic Marathon Trials by running a 1:04:35 half marathon at the Jacksonville Bank Half Marathon. Unfortunately, he was unable to compete at the Olympic Trials due to emergency appendicitis surgery 3 days before the race. He has finished 23rd and 16th at the 2016 and 2017 USATF Half Marathon Championships, owns 5 course records on the roads in Texas as part of the Texas 10 Series. Ryan qualified for the 2020 United States Olympic Marathon Trials by running a 2:14:27 marathon at the California International Marathon, taking 12th place in the 2018 USATF Marathon Championship field. He also recently set his half marathon PR, running 1:03:46 at the 2020 Aramco Houston Half Marathon.
Ryan made his ultra marathon debut at the 2021 Bandera 100k, taking the win and earning a Golden Ticket to the "Super Bowl of American Mountain Ultra Trail Running", the Western States Endurance Run. Most recently, he placed 4th at the 2021 USATF Half Marathon Trail Championship and 2nd at the 2021 Spartan Trail US Ultra Championship and 1st at the 2022 Gorge. Waterfalls 50k.
Ryan currently lives in San Antonio, Texas with his wife and 1 year old son Maverick. He is the head coach of the Maverick Running Community and enjoys playing Settlers of Catan in his free time.
