Are Spring Energy's Labels Accurate? Independent Lab Test Results

Yes — and you can check the numbers yourself. Every Spring Energy gel and Power Snack below was sent to an independent, accredited laboratory to measure what is actually in the pouch. Measured calories came in between −2% and +15% of the labeled value, with any difference on the side of more fuel, not less. The full certificates of analysis are linked for every product.

Are Spring Energy's nutrition labels accurate?

Independent third-party laboratories analyzed nine Spring gels and Power Snacks. Laboratories report nutrient analysis per 100 grams of product; the table below converts each lab's measured value to calories per packet using the labeled packet weight, next to what the label states. Every certificate of analysis is linked in the right-hand column, unedited.

Calories per packet are calculated from the lab's measured per-100 g value × the labeled packet weight, rounded to the nearest calorie.

How accurate does a nutrition label have to be?

A nutrition label is not a promise of an exact number. U.S. regulations set explicit tolerances, because food is a biological product and every analytical method carries its own measurement error. The rules live in 21 CFR 101.9(g):

  • Calories, sugars, fat, saturated fat, cholesterol and sodium — a food is misbranded if a composite sample measures more than 20% above the labeled value (§ 101.9(g)(5)).
  • Protein, total carbohydrate and fiber — must measure at least 80% of the labeled value (§ 101.9(g)(4)(ii)).
  • Reasonable deficiencies in calories, within good manufacturing practice, are treated as acceptable (§ 101.9(g)(6)).

Compliance is assessed on a composite of 12 consumer units drawn from a single production lot (§ 101.9(g)(1)–(2)), not on a single pouch.

What this does not prove: the results above describe the specific lots sampled on the dates shown. They are evidence about those lots. They are not a guarantee about every pouch ever produced, and no laboratory test can be.

Why do the measured numbers vary at all?

We make our fuel from real food — fruit, nut butters, rice, honey, coconut. A batch of dates is not identical to the last batch of dates; harvest, ripeness and growing season all move the numbers slightly. Refined maltodextrin-and-fructose formulas do not have this problem, because their inputs are manufactured to a constant specification. Real ingredients trade a little of that consistency for what they give you in return. Our job is to keep that natural variation inside a tight band and to publish where it actually lands, which is what the table above does.

How often does Spring re-test its products?

Independent verification is a standing part of how we operate, not a one-time event. Products are re-tested by accredited third-party laboratories on an ongoing basis, and this page is updated as each new round of results is completed. The test date and the laboratory that ran each analysis are shown next to every result above, so you can always see how current the evidence is.

If you have a question about any result, email contact@myspringenergy.com — we will show you the paperwork.
