I love this stuff and would eat it everyday if I could afford it. It's great for pre-race brekkie when you just didn't have time for any before you left the house. Or, when you have to drive to the race and want to eat breakfast on the way.

Prefer the more natural food based Spring Energy to most of the gels. Don't have any GI issues with Spring when taking 6+ over the course of an event.

These are my absolute favorite thing ever. Like on the planet. I love these gels so much. They taste and have the consistency of apple sauce.

Why a meal, not another gel

Hour four is where
fueling falls apart.

Palate fatigue is real. After hours of the same sweet flavor, your taste receptors adapt and your body starts asking for texture, fat and salt instead. That's the point where athletes stop eating — and stopping eating is what ends long days.

A gel is 100 to 210 calories. A Spring meal is 310, built from oats, fruit and honey rather than maltodextrin, so it absorbs gradually instead of dumping a high osmotic load into a gut that already has less blood flow than usual.

It's spoonable straight from the pouch. No cooking, no chewing, no stopping.

Before you
hit buy.

When do I eat one?

Two moments. As a pre-race breakfast when you're eating in the car or at the trailhead, and during any effort past about two hours, when a gel stops being enough food.

How is this different from a gel?

Calories and texture. A gel is 100–210 kcal of fast carbohydrate. A meal is 310 kcal of oats, fruit and honey — it eats like food because it is food.

Do I have to mix or chew it?

Neither. It's spoonable straight from the pouch. A few sips of water helps it go down, but there's nothing to prepare and nothing to chew.

Is it vegan and gluten free?

All three meals are gluten free. Blueberry and Matcha Berry are vegan. Oat Pineapple (Wolf Pack) is plant-based plus honey.

Will it upset my stomach?

That's the whole point of the formulation. No maltodextrin — whole-food carbohydrates absorb more gradually and put a lower osmotic load on a gut that already has reduced blood flow when you're working hard.
